Support for mentally ill female patients in Amanuel Mental Hospital
We have handed over a building to Amanuel Mental Specialized Hospital in Addis Ababa that consists 23 rooms to deliver maternal and child care and psychiatry services.
The support of this new building demonstrates Heineken Ethiopia’s commitment of supporting communities and our overall strategy of ‘Growing with Ethiopia’. The 4.2 million birr budget to construct the building was secured from Heineken African Foundation (HAF).
The building is designed to serve mentally ill female patients who require reproductive health care services, emergency services and admitted cases.
We are continuously supporting the Ethiopian Health system. Last year, we have also provided an equipped ambulance and medical equipment for the maternal wing of Kilinto health center in Addis Ababa. The ambulance costs 1.3 million birr and emergency medical equipment for the ambulance is around 500k birr. We have also equipped the maternal wing with modern equipment including ultra sound, CBC machine, suction machine and chemistry machine for the laboratory with a total cost of 800k birr. Both the Ambulance and medical equipment’s are helping the health center to improve access to health facilities and basic health service delivery. Not only that, we have also supported Bedele Hospital and Shembet Health Center in Baher Dar with expansion projects, ambulance and several medical equipment.
