HEINEKEN Ethiopia produces the flagship Heineken® brand locally

Addis Ababa, November19th, 2016: Since the establishment of Kilinto brewery in 2014, with significant investments and a strong commitment to quality by our world-class brew masters and experts the brewery produces high quality brands. In line with that, Ethiopia is now the 7th country in the continent where the Heineken® brand is produced locally.

Local production of Heineken®, an outstanding premium brand in the world, confirms the Kilinto brewery has reached a new milestone of meeting international premium quality. The flagship brand is also locally produced in Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia.

As Heineken® begins local production in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa now boasts its place as yet another city Heineken calls home. Heineken® intends to grow, to create, and to reach new heights with the new country it has added to its home address, Ethiopia. Addis Ababa now has its name placed next to world cosmopolitan destinations.

It was in 1873 that Gerard Heineken was so proud with the quality of his new premium lager beer he put his family name on all bottles that left his brewery. The global footprint of Heineken touched down in Africa in 1900. Now, four generations later, the relentless dedication to quality still speaks to younger generations across the globe urging them to make the most out of life as they enjoy the premium quality beer. Each day 25 million Heineken®,s are being enjoyed in 192 countries.

The green beer bottles introduced in 1900, not only signify its physical difference from the standard brown bottles, but also prove the brand’s pioneer vision. A bit of green in the city feels good doesn’t it? Born in the city of Amsterdam, its no secret cities are Heineken’s natural habitat. Each day Heineken® thrives on the unique energy and vibrant culture found in these cities. It has landed in many cities including London, Rio, Sydney, Paris, New York, and many more.

Here is a toast to uncovering the hidden art, culture, people and places that make Addis Ababa one of the greatest cities in the world.
