Welcome to Our Breweries page, where you’ll get to explore our remarkable presence in Ethiopia. We stand out by anchoring ourselves in three regions of the country while harnessing the advantages of being the world’s most international brewer.
Our journey in Ethiopia began in 2011 with the acquisition of the Harar and Bedele breweries. Fueled by the thriving beer industry, we proudly established the Kilinto brewery in Addis Ababa in 2014. Discover HEINEKEN Ethiopia’s three breweries, where passion, innovation, craftsmanship, and community connection deliver our great brands to consumers.
The Kilinto brewery in Akaki Kality, on the outskirts of Addis Ababa was built in 2014 on a more than 200.000 square meters compound. Since its start, the beer volume has more than tripled. We brew Ethiopian’s finest beers in the state-of-the-art brewery complemented by a well-equipped training center – Star Academy – operated by highly-trained and competent staff.
Continuously striving for the highest standards of safety, food safety, quality, and efficiency, Kilinto competes with the best breweries in the HEINEKEN Group and has been rewarded with many awards.
Kilinto is the home of the Walia beer and hosts the magical HEINEKEN “A-yeast”, to allow the local production of our flagship Heineken beer. We produce renowned beer brands like Walia®, Bedele®, and Harar®, every brand is made with a deep understanding and passion for consumers.
Our unwavering pursuit of quality and excellence has earned us the prestigious 10th Round Ethiopian Quality Award, presented by H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, the President of Ethiopia
